Market: the race continues in 2002

According to Nomisma, prices will continue to rise until July and the forecasts speak of a tailwind until 2004, with the prospect of seeing the market grow beyond the peaks reached in 2002.
The study center underlines that all this is happening despite the negative global macroeconomic situation triggered by the Twin Towers tragedy.
The basis of the forecasts is also the confident attitude of potential buyers.
From the second quarter of 2001 to today, in fact, the majority of Italian families declare themselves optimistic (65%) regarding the national economic situation and a considerable share wants to buy houses in the next two years.
On the mortgage front, in 2000 128 thousand billion lire were disbursed (+3.6%) and the race continued (+3.7%) in 2001, mainly aimed at first homes (71.5%).
Even after the tragic events related to September 11th, the real estate market does not lose momentum and its expansion phase will last at least for a few years.
This is what Nomisma states, which presented a report on the sector in Rimini as part of 'Orienta Finanza', the second edition of the financial services exhibition.
The Bolognese study center underlines that 2001 was an excellent year on all fronts: prices increased (since 1999) by 17% for homes, 14.1% for offices and 15.4% for shops and the number of transactions recorded an increase (compared to 2000), of 7%, 5% and 4% respectively.
